Kirsten Harkins

Kirsten found yoga after her eldest son was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease in 2001. A former professional figure skater, Kirsten was drawn to the movement, strength and grace of yoga asana, but soon realized it was the connection to her breath through that movement that provided her with the stillness of mind she was craving.

For over a decade, her yoga practice (which evolved from Ashtanga to Vijnana to Vinyasa Flow and Power) kept her grounded while she supported and advocated for Canadians affected with rare diseases. In the spring of 2015, upon the urging of her teacher Chris Clancy, she took a leap of faith and enrolled in Vancouver’s Karma Teachers College, a transformational experience that deepened her knowledge and love of yoga and her commitment to a dedicated practice rooted in selfless service. While living in Prince George from 2015-2018, Kirsten dove deep into her yoga journey, teaching hatha, flow, power and yin to yogis of all ages and exploring the practice further through several workshops, including a 60-hour Advanced Vinyasa training with her long-time teacher Nico Luce and Clara Roberts-Oss.
